Writer Lara Dunning is a small town girl who lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest.
Her professional life is a balance of freelance writing for various travel magazines and Small Town Washington & Beyond where she shares her passion for small town travel. Her freelance travel work can be found at Experience Anacortes, Bainbridge Island Magazine, The Crossing Guide, Northwest Travel & Life Magazine, RealFoodTraveler.com, WaggonerGuide.com, WanderWithWonder.com and Whidbey Life Magazine.
She also manages the editorial for the WaggonerGuide.com and is part of the editorial team for their annual publication the Waggoner Cruising Guide which has been coined “the boating bible” for Pacific Northwest boaters.
She has an MFA in Creative Writing with a dual degree in nonfiction and young adult writing from the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts. She also writes creative nonfiction and young adult novels. Her essays have been published in Soundings Review, Silver Apples Magazine, Mountain Gazette, Niche Literary Magazine, The Lindenwood Review (honorable mention), and Animal Literary Magazine. Her young adult novel, Aleutian Pearl, won 2nd place in the Authors.me YA!2015 contest.
