Port Townsend Castle
Built in 1882, Alexander’s Castle is the oldest and most unusual structure at Fort Worden.

Port Townsend’s Victorian Castle

Need a unique getaway? Alexander’s Castle—a Victorian American-made castle—is not only unusual it’s part of Fort Worden’s 434-acre park, which means there is plenty to explore right from its door step (gun batteries, yoga, music, museums, marine science center, beaches).

Reverend John Alexander built the castle in 1882 and planned to spend a blissful wedded life with his ladylove here. Unfortunately, she married another. Alexander continued to live here for several years and when he left the military took it over. Now, it is part of the rental accommodations at Fort Worden.
