Kindle, Nookbook and Smashwords Edition 2010
Back Cover: With only three days left until her twenty-first birthday, her Day of Sacrifice, Flora Hamilton should be living it up. But when another Supernatural family puts a hit on her she’s forced to go into hiding with Julian, her gorgeous new Guardian Angel. Sometimes running for your life isn’t so bad.
Day of Sacrifice is a short story of approximately 15,000 words. It is intended for adults due to language and sexual situations.
Lara’s Review: Flora is three days away from her 21st birthday, a momentus miles stone as that is the day she is to be sacrificed to the gods. Her guardian angel is not impressed with her behavior and leaves her alone, something a guardian should never do. Little does Flora know that her estranged father has started a feud with a business partner and put Flora’s life in imminent danger. If she is not sacrificed on her 21st birthday her family will lose much more than their first-born daughter.
As Flora runs for her life a sacrificed friend’s guardian angel, Julian, comes to her rescue and together their long admiration for each other turns into something more. But, there are more challenges ahead for Flora as she comes to terms with her own witch powers and the truth behind her father’s betrayal.
Day of Sacrifice is a short read and leaves you wanting more. The pace moves quickly from one scene to the next without any loss of depth to the characters or storyline. The world is very interesting as its filled with angels, witches and vampires. In this first novella I would have enjoyed learning more about this world and how human sacrifices came about in this society as the sacrifical scenes brought to mind images of Central American rituals. Rebellion is the second installment which I am currently reading and hoping to find some of my questions answered.
The book does contain descriptive love scenes and is not really age appropriate for young readers.
Author Interview to post March 20th.
